Location and Hours

Glen Ellyn

Historical Society

The Glen Ellyn History Center is located at 800 N. Main St. in Glen Ellyn, IL 60137

The History Center is located next to Forest Glen Elementary School, and directly across the street from a 7-11 convenience store. We are one block south of the intersection of Geneva Rd., St. Charles Rd., and N. Main St. We are one mile north of downtown Glen Ellyn and the train station.

There is convenient, free parking in our lot. If the lot is full, additional parking is located behind Stacy's Tavern Museum. If school is closed, you may also park by the elementary school, or across the street at the District 41 Administration Building. There is also parking on nearby residential streets, but watch for directional signs as not all side streets allow parking on both sides.

Hours:

The standard operating hours for the History Center and Stacy's Corners Store, our gift shop, are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. We are usually closed Sundays and Mondays. Around holidays, please check our hours before you come, as we close most holiday weekends. The Center for Historical Research (our Archives) is staffed with volunteers most Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. If you are coming from out of town to visit the Archives, we recommend calling before you come.

Stacy's Tavern Museum is located at 557 Geneva Rd. in Glen Ellyn, approximately 1/2 block from the History Center. Unless you have special mobility needs, we recommend parking at the History Center, as that lot is paved and the lot behind the museum is dirt. There is a wheelchair ramp at the back of the museum. But there are only stairs to the second floor of the building; the second floor is not accessible. (Please note: 557 Geneva Rd. is the physical address of the property but we do not receive mail at this address -- it will be returned.)

Hours:

The standard operating hours for the museum are April through mid-December, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons only, from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. You do not need an appointment to come during these times. The last tour begins at 3:45 p.m. We are usually closed holiday weekends, so please call if you are thinking about coming around a holiday.

Museum admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students ages 6 - 17, and children 5 & under are free.

Additional hours are available by appointment if we have staff/volunteers available. But please call at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance to schedule an appointment.

Large group tours require an appointment so we are sure to have enough docents on hand.
